Connect your PSA

Short answer: create a dedicated, read-only API user in your PSA, then in StackTether open Connections, choose the Slot and Vendor, fill in the fields and click Test and connect. StackTether tests the details with the vendor first and saves them only if the test passes. Saved credentials are encrypted and can never be shown again.

What you need

  • An admin account on StackTether, signed in with 2FA.
  • A dedicated API user in your PSA. Follow the vendor guide first:

Fields per vendor

VendorFields on Connections
Kaseya BMSAPI address (usually https://api.bms.kaseya.com), Company (tenant) name, API username (the BMS username, not an email address), Password
AutotaskAPI username, Secret, Integration code. There is no address field: StackTether finds your Autotask zone from the API username.

Steps

  1. Open Connections. The PSA tab is selected.
  2. In Connect a PSA, leave Slot on Primary for your first PSA.
  3. Choose your Vendor: Kaseya BMS or Autotask.
  4. Paste each value into its field. The boxes are masked, do not autofill and block copying back out.
  5. Click Test and connect. Wait for Testing and saving... to finish.
  6. When you see Connected. The credentials are saved and cannot be shown again., you are done.
  7. Turn on vendor access for each person who should use it, yourself included: Vendor access.

Check it worked

  • The Primary PSA panel shows the vendor, a status, a fixed mask for Credentials and a Last tested time.
  • Click Test again at any time; Connection works. means StackTether can still sign in and read tickets.

Change, rotate or remove

  • Rotate a password or secret: change it in the PSA, then on Connections pick the same slot, enter every field again and click Test and replace. Nothing saved is shown, so all fields must be typed again.
  • Second PSA: add a Secondary next to the primary, for example while you move from one PSA to another. See Primary and secondary PSA.
  • Remove: click Remove on the connection, then Confirm remove. The saved credentials are deleted and AI tools stop using the connection. This cannot be undone.

FAQ

Can I see the saved username or password later?

No. Once saved, nothing on StackTether shows the credentials again, not even the username or address. Keep the values in your password manager if you need them.

The test failed. What now?

The message says why: login details refused, a missing permission, the vendor unreachable, a time-out or rate limiting. Nothing is saved after a failed test. See Troubleshooting.

"Too many connection tests. Wait a few minutes and try again."

Connection tests are limited per admin and per MSP. Wait a few minutes.
