Connect ChatGPT to StackTether

Short answer: in ChatGPT on the web, turn on developer mode, add a custom connector (remote MCP server) with the address https://app.stacktether.com/api/mcp, then sign in to StackTether with 2FA on the page that opens and click Approve. Your MSP's admin must have ChatGPT switched on under AI access.

What you need

  • A ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu plan, with developer mode available on the web. On Business, Enterprise and Edu, a workspace admin may need to allow it.
  • ChatGPT switched on for your MSP.
  • Vendor access to a PSA connection in StackTether.

Steps

  1. Copy the Connector address from Connect your AI app on StackTether's Home.
  2. In ChatGPT on the web, turn on developer mode in settings. OpenAI's help explains where: Developer mode and MCP apps in ChatGPT.
  3. Add a custom connector (remote MCP server), name it "StackTether", paste the address and choose OAuth sign-in.
  4. When the StackTether page opens, sign in with your password and 2FA code.
  5. On Connect ChatGPT to StackTether?, check that Sends you back to shows chatgpt.com, then click Approve.
  6. In a new chat, enable the StackTether connector and ask a PSA question.

Check it worked

Account lists ChatGPT under Your connected AI apps, and calls appear in the audit log with the app ChatGPT.

What ChatGPT can do

  • Use every read-only psa_ tool on the data you have access to.
  • For deep research and company knowledge, ChatGPT uses two standard tools, search and fetch, over tickets and clients. On Autotask, results include links back to the record.

Known limits

  • StackTether compares ChatGPT's calls with OpenAI's published network ranges in watch mode (the switch shows Watching OpenAI's network). Calls are counted, not blocked.
  • The approval lasts 30 days. ChatGPT registers itself once per connector.
  • The OpenAI developer mode feature is in beta and changes often; if a menu has moved, follow OpenAI's current help.

Disconnecting

Remove or disable the connector in ChatGPT's settings. An admin can also click Disconnect under AI access.

An admin turns on ChatGPT under AI access. Then start the connection again in ChatGPT.

Can I use the ChatGPT mobile app?

Set up the connector on the web first. Whether it is usable on mobile depends on OpenAI's current rules for developer mode.
