Audit log

Short answer: Audit log (admins only) lists every AI tool call by your team, including refused ones: who made it, which tool and AI app, the outcome, which records were shown, the IP address and when. Search text and record content are never stored. Entries are kept for one year.

Read the log

The Tool calls table has these columns:

ColumnMeaning
WhatThe tool and the outcome. Refusals and errors show their reason, for example "Too many calls a minute" or "Outside the country list".
ByThe member who made the call.
AppThe AI app, taken from the app's sign-in, never from what the AI says. Local apps also show the start of the connection's client ID so two connections can be told apart.
RecordsIDs of the records shown (for example ticket numbers), up to 100 per call. "(some not logged)" means there were more.
IP addressWhere the call came from. For cloud apps this is the AI vendor's server.
WhenDate and time.

Filter

  1. Choose a Person (or Everyone), a Tool (or All tools), an Outcome (or Any outcome) and an App (or All apps).
  2. Click Filter. Clear resets.
  3. 50 entries per page; use Newer and Older.

Outcomes

OutcomeMeaning
SuccessThe tool ran and answered.
Invalid inputThe AI sent arguments the tool does not accept.
ErrorThe tool could not finish, for example the PSA was slow, not set up, or a budget was used up.
RefusedThe call was refused, for example a request StackTether would not run.

Reasons you may see include "Not supported", "Not found", "Vendor error", "Too many calls a minute", "Member's hourly PSA share used up", "MSP's hourly PSA budget used up", "AI access paused", "Outside the app's network", "Outside the country list" and "Slowed down".

No audit, no answer

If StackTether cannot write the audit entry, the tool returns no result. The AI is told: "The audit log could not record this request, so no result was returned. Try again shortly."

Other logs

  • Recent admin actions on Team: invites, role changes, resets, connection changes.
  • History on each member page and on Account: everything about one person, including sign-ins and AI app changes.

FAQ

Can techs see the audit log?

No. It is the MSP's oversight record, readable by admins only.

Can I export it?

Not yet. Export and forwarding to a SIEM are planned.

Does the log contain patient or client data?

No. It holds metadata and record IDs only, never ticket text or search terms. See Data we store.
