Connect Cursor to StackTether

Short answer: Cursor connects in two ways. For cloud agents, add a custom MCP server for cloud agents with https://app.stacktether.com/api/mcp; this needs the Cursor (cloud agents) switch. For the Cursor desktop app, add the same address as a remote MCP server; this counts as a local app and needs the Local apps on a tech's computer switch. Either way you sign in to StackTether with 2FA and click Approve.

Steps

  1. Ask an admin to switch on the matching app under AI access.
  2. In Cursor, add a custom MCP server and paste the connector address (Cursor's guide: Model Context Protocol).
  3. When the StackTether page opens, sign in and click Approve.

Known limits

  • Cloud agents: approvals last 30 days; Cursor publishes no network ranges, so calls are not limited by network.
  • Desktop app: approvals last 7 days; your MSP's country list for local apps applies. See Local apps.
  • Cursor limits the total number of tools across all MCP servers. StackTether keeps its tool list small (20 tools).
