Connect an AI app to StackTether
Short answer: copy the connector address https://app.stacktether.com/api/mcp (also shown with a Copy button in the Connect your AI app panel on Home), add it to your AI app as a custom connector (remote MCP server), and when a StackTether page opens, sign in with 2FA and click Approve. The app can then read the PSA data your admin gave you access to.
What you need
- A StackTether account with 2FA set up.
- The AI app switched On for your MSP. The Connect your AI app panel marks each app On or Off. If it says Not switched on for your MSP. Ask an admin., an admin turns it on under AI access.
- Vendor access to at least one PSA connection. Check Your vendor access on Account.
- An AI app plan that allows custom connectors. See the page for your app under AI apps.
Steps
- In the StackTether portal, open Home. In Connect your AI app, click the copy button next to Connector address.
- Open the section for your app (for example Claude (cloud) or ChatGPT) and follow its short steps. In most apps you add a custom connector and paste the address.
- The app opens a StackTether page. Sign in with your password and 2FA code if asked.
- Read the consent page, Connect <app> to StackTether?. It shows the App, where it Sends you back to, and who it Acts as (you and your MSP).
- Click Approve only if you just started the connection in that app yourself. Otherwise click Deny.
- Back in the AI app, ask something simple, such as "List my open tickets in the PSA."
Check it worked
- Account lists the app under Your connected AI apps.
- An admin sees your call in Audit log, with the app name in the App column.
How long an approval lasts
- Cloud apps (Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity and others): 30 days. Apps on your own computer (Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and others): 7 days. Then the app asks you to approve again.
- A connection unused for 14 days is disconnected automatically.
- Signing out everywhere, a password or 2FA reset, or a pause ends every approval at once.
FAQ
"This AI app isn't turned on for your MSP."
Ask an admin of your MSP to turn it on under AI access, then connect again from the app.
"Your admin has turned this app off for you."
An admin switched this app off for you personally on your member page. Ask them if you need it.
The app connects but finds nothing.
Your vendor access is probably off. The AI is told: "No PSA is available to you: none is connected or turned on, or your admin has not given you access to it yet." Ask an admin to turn on your vendor access.
Can I disconnect myself?
Remove the connector in the AI app. An admin can also click Disconnect on your app under AI access or on your member page.
